No Jimmy.
Religion is not a mental illness.
And no, not all religions are cults.
Maybe the church you were raised in was, but your experiences are not universal.
Who taught you about atheism anyway? Ricky Gervais? Graham Linehan?
Away with that jaded, nihilistic shite!

I don't understand pessimistic nihilists. If your life is so short and meaningless why in God's name would you spend it feeling sad for yourself. Go on a walk, smell the flowers, make some meaning you emo fuck.

Essay About Euna (fictional villain of my card game's lore) Determinism, and Nihilism
Context for the lore im not ready to show you (its not done yet!): Euna is The unimaginably cruel and sickening parts of our world. Functionally, and in what I'm eventually going to Show-not-tell, Euna is a Sorcer/Mage from a planet far away who eventually became basically all-powerful, she is an insurmountable force slowly corrupting all of EVERYTHING with oil, its meant to be an analogy on environmental issues at face value. her desire for her ideal of order to control everything is the most terrifying threat to the world (in game). Basically at face value she's Phyrexians from MTG. BUT In reality Euna is only made a human by people not being capable of coming to terms with the fact that there is inherent evil in the world. She's a rationalization of Misery and a being of pure law, Most of her face value lore comes from a poem I wrote that, in the universe, is part of the oral tradition of orcs and goblins, passed down by the Gwrach, an order of witches alive since the formation of the universe. They were the first to make the mistake of believing in Euna’s humanity, and were the first to believe in her unnatural origins. the epiphany of Euna (evil, cruelty, greed, spite, and violence) being a force of nature and not a Lich from another planet, is supposed to be revealed in excruciatingly careful and slow detail. This is the most important and transformative part of My games lore, and my philosphy in general, and eventually a better writer than me (At this point in my life) will know how to make this story feel the way it feels in my head. My essay:
Euna is truly and really given a human form from the pure force of belief that she is human and unnatural. The magic of belief or the transformative power of beleif Is an incredibly important piece of Humanist philosophy to me. I truly believe that being able to think gives any "Thinking thing" the power to give meaning to all of the universe. And in Guarder that Philosophical power is given physical form in Euna.
Also, Euna is very inspired by the IDEA of a single consciousness. Think of the short story “the Egg”. Kurzgesagt (YouTube) made an animated telling of that short story, go watch it. Euna is also similar to the Trimurti (bad grammar because idk how to refer to them/it/us/you) from hinduism, In the sense that she is one many faced being. Philosophically Euna is that force of determinism, but she exists in a non-deterministic world, and is given power by people believing that she has already preordained their life. Again, Euna is only dangerous because people (and especially the Gwrach) BELIEVE that she is an malicious and evil force that determines people’s life, Its like all of the bad and dangerous parts of religion with a dollop of the silly counter arguments to humanism. In this story those flaws only make people feel unsafe and impossibly small (like how determinism and religion make many people feel). Here's a good parallel, Ari Aster’s determinism trilogy (Hereditary, Midsommar, Bo is afraid) In those, “Euna” is Bo’s mother, The grandmother in hereditary, and the cult in midsommar. HOWEVER Euna is only those forces because people BELIEVE that she's an insurmountable force. SHE ISN'T. EUNA ISN'T EVEN TECHNICALLY REAL. She is a fictional threat Made real by the power of belief stemming from a religious cult that invented her to explain away cognative dissonance about the fact that the world isn’t inherently good. To summerize my thoughts and intentions about this story. When people are presented with an insurmountable all powerful force, we often sit down and take it (because we are told that we can't do anything, the force is insurmountable after all). I truely beleive that reaction is the most dangerous path of thinking you can take, its so easy to fall back on pessimism, nihilism, and all the time it feels like life has already decided where we're going. But it REALLY TRUELY hasn't! you can do anything wou want, and I mean that! go get icecream, start working out, quit your job, Nothing is stopping you! In the Real World We dont give determinism a human form just because we lose hope, and In the real world Euna literally cannot exist. I made her up to express my feelings about determinism, the single mind, and nihilism, not to say that religion and the beleive that life is preordained is true. The purpose of Euna Turning Into a corporeal threat is to create a metaphore about the dangers of beleiving that you don't have power. The reason Euna is not really an all powerful sorcerer is because in the real world we forget that bad things and tragedies are not evil, they are a fact of life. The reason that Eana is dangerouse is because She has a name you wisper to your friends and in doing so, you make eachother beleive that you are powerless
In other words, Beleiving that you can't do anything Prevents you from Doing anything. Beleiving that you are railroaded through your life Puts you on the rail. Anyways, you shouldn't feel pessimistic reading this, Euna is purely fiction and not a real thing in our world at all. She is just the issues with nihilism and determinism made salient by fiction and hopefully you understand why she’s so important to my story now.

Shouldn't the Status Go?
Isn't it easy to advocate for moderation
To dismiss the rest for seeking admiration
Decrying each time those to whom you felt relation
No one spies your failures from inside your station
Oh don't kill yourself to live forever
Says those who I cannot deny are clever
But, damn, aren't you already dead with no endeavor
Just go take your pick, it can be whatever

“They finally made this theme more blatant-" Why does it need to be blatant. What's wrong with subtlety? Concepts can be underused but subtlety is not neglect.
Blaring all your concepts and themes is not good writing. It's so disruptive to a story's flow when the characters look off the screen to be like "See? This is the concept. The idea. The theme."
If you can feel the hand of the author becoming too heavy that's bad.
For example: I see people saying Azula's abuse in ATLA is more blatant in the live action and it's good because "it's being discussed more". It already was discussed at length. The show made it clear she was a victim at every turn, every behavior, every reaction, it came from a place of trauma. It was made clear that she was scared of ending up like Zuko because Zuko was an example of what would happen to her if she failed. When she says she's better than Zuko it wasn't just because she was raised to think hersef superior to him but because Zuko failed and failures get mutilated and exiled, failures are abandoned. In that final Agni Kai the music is morose and somber because this isnt some epic battle its a fucking tragedy, the burning out of "Ozai's brightest light" and Azula finally succumbing to her terror and trauma she was repressing now that her worst fears are realized. How can you see a fourteen year old girl chained to a sewer grate wailing and writhing and breathing fire desperately as unsympathetic? Even Katara and Zuko are horrified as to what has become of her.
The writers weren't looking us in the eye and saying "See? She's a victim too" when they wrote this, they weaved it in. They weaved it into her obsesison with symmetry, her extreme perfectionism, the way she talks about Ozai, the ways she calls herself a monster, her isolation from those with healthy home lives, all the ways she held herself together and ultimately all the cracks and seams that she shattered down when she fell apart. It did not need to be blatant to be clear.

What’s that?
You think your people should forever shun, scorn and renounce the entire outside world and its peoples and only react to them with belligerent hostility? And that building a better world isn’t gonna get us anywhere?
*rogue state behaviour*
Sounds like that’s your problem.
Also no.
This is what we call being LESS than wrong.
I’ve encountered this mindset on several occasions, while I may try to understand where it comes from, that doesn’t make it right.
It’s a sickening and dangerous way of thinking.
Embracing bitterness and spite in response to centuries of trauma isn’t gonna make anything better.
For anyone.
Get RID of that nihilistic bullshit!

never let anyone convince you that your excitement isn't beautiful. what an incredible thing it is, to notice and be overcome by any bright spot in this too-dark world.
it doesn't matter what you're excited about, how small it seems to other people, your joy deserves to grow as big as it can. nurture it. help it grow strong so that when you are hurting your joy can lend you its strength.

The Papas are like cryptids when they're not touring/are stationed back at the Ministry.
You got Nihil, who's seen so rarely that many new initiates didn't even know he existed until one day they heard an oxygen machine going and saw this anciently decrepit man in ornate Satanic Antipope regalia shuffling about with two children they'd never seen around here before. And then they all die and rumor has it they haunt the place.
Primo.
Secondo is probably the least abnormal of the bunch since he enjoys attending orgies and whatnot but you tell me you're ready to see an old man, completely sloshed, stumbling about with robe pockets full of Troll dolls while mumbling about how the wine cellar is locked up for once. Better/worse: Why the fuck is Pitbull living here? Who's on tour right now, then!?!
Terzo is arguably the scariest and what r/NoSleep posts write about because on the one hand, he seems so friendly but then you're wandering the halls late at night after a late-night study session in the library or something and you catch a glimpse of a familiar silhouette just standing in the quad alone, until it tenses and whips around and you see a piercing white eye glowing in the moonlight and zeroing in on you.
And then Copia, you just stumble upon him stumbling out of the kitchen while sneaking a midnight snack and his hair is a mess and his eyes are wide. Honestly, he's more like a raccoon you caught taking trash or cat food than a cryptid but he still mystifies you.
